Dear Band and Color Guard,
Our phenomenal and hardworking band was 7th out of 24 bands at the contest yesterday, and 2 away from advancing to state (!!!). It was the best showing for the band in 6 years. The band calendar has changed for this week, so note the following: Monday's rehearsal will be canceled, and the ones Wednesday and Thursday will be shortened to 3-4:30. We have a football game Friday against Clear Springs High School at Challenger Columbia Stadium. Senior night takes place at Friday's game, so senior parents need to be at the stadium by 6PM. Please fill out this form with all of the information needed for Senior Night (deadline was LAST FRIDAY so please complete TODAY if not done yet): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdiQCwW24wgos-l43q0Wz6lfK9R0QMcBDm7k44l1Vt9jQKj5g/viewform Great job to the parking attendant parents who braved the crowds working with the mobs of people yesterday! Take note below of the poinsettia and butter braid fundraiser information (see attached) and details about Halloween practice and an event at Bay Area Park on November 10. Have a great week, Jennifer McBurnett VP — Communications DECK YOUR HALLS WITH FESTIVE HOLIDAY PLANTS Now is the time to order your holiday plants from the Falcon Band Booster Club. Support your favorite band and decorate for the season at the same time! The gorgeous Poinsettias, exotic Holiday Cactus, and Norfolk Pines arrive in 6" pots with gold wrappers and are only $15 each! Poinsettias are available in both red and white. For something a little different, try a red holiday cactus or a fresh-smelling Norfolk Pine. These lush plants make splendid gifts, too! The fundraiser will begin Monday, October 29 and run through Friday, November 9th. If you are interested in the white poinsettias, submit your order early — the number of these unique plants may be limited. Order forms will be given to band students and are also available from the band website www.clhsband.org. pdf_poinsettia_flyer.pdf Questions can be directed to: Anne Anguiano @ 281 413-3236 or at [email protected] The plants must be picked up following the Winter Concert on Tuesday December 4th. BUTTER BRAID FUNDRAISER I am very excited to announce the upcoming fundraising event! For those of you that are familiar with Butter Braid pastries — you'll be glad to know that they're back! For those of you that are not — you'll wonder how you ever lived without them! The Butter braid fundraiser will start on 11/5/2018 and run through 11/26/2018. The proceeds from this fundraiser will go to support Band Expenses. Each person has a goal to sell a minimum of 12 pastries. The goal is to earn at least $3000 in profit! butterbraid_forms.pdf Feel free to contact me with any questions, and thanks for doing your part to make this fundraiser a success! Samantha Houston (832) 407-8375 STUDENT-RELATED NEWS & EVENTS FROM THE BAND COUNCIL Don't forget that the Halloween rehearsal is this Wednesday, October 31!! Dress up in a costume you can march in. The directors will judge costumes at the end of rehearsal in the following categories: (1) best group costumes, (2) scariest, (3) most creative, and (4) best overall. Each winner of each category gets a prize! SAVE THE DATE FOR NOVEMBER 10!!! From 3:00-5:30 PM on Saturday, November 10, meet up with everyone else from the band at Bay Area Park at an event the council likes to call “NuTribe at the Park”! Read last week's email, contact [email protected], or just look out for advertisements in the band hall to see the details. (And, last but not least:) WE ARE SO PROUD OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!! To even be considered an area finalist (a feat that CLHS hasn't accomplished for years!) is amazing, but to be considered COMPETITIVE with those other large and loud bands is an honor. We couldn't have done this without the efforts of every single member of our band program, and I want to know that your hard work throughout this successful marching season is greatly appreciated. I love you guys so much, and I can't wait to see where this band goes in the future!
